The RSG2 stock was converted out of the latest eleven sets of the SG2 fleet for trial service on the Hofplein Line, wich was separated from the main network at the time the trains were used on it. These 11 cars were withdrawn from service short after the delivery of RSG3 stock, because a complete rebuild was necessary to return the cars to service on Metrolijn A, B, C and D.
In the simulator
These trains can be used on third-rail and ZUB-protected parts of the network. It includes:
- In Simvliet:
- Only the line A between Stadionweg and Araplein
- In Rijndam:
- Section Panbos - Nobelplein (Noorderpoort until 2006 included) of the M1
- Section Noorderpoort - Rijndam Airport of M4 until 2018 included.
- The entire M5.
- Section Noordvliet - Transportmuseum of Museum line.
Trivia
The name "RSG2" is actually an acronym. The full name is "RandstadRail Sneltram Geleed 2-deilig," which in dutch stands for: "RandstadRail light rail vehicle 2-segmented”.
