The Alstom rubber tired metros where first introduced in Paris, as a way of noise reduction and better traction on inclines. Later, the system has also been installed in multiple other city's, including Santiago, Mexico City and Lausanne.

The collection in this download includes the following trains:

  • Mexico MP68
  • Santiago NS74
  • Santiago NS93
  • Paris MP89CC (CC = Conduite Conducteur = traindriver control)
  • Paris MP89CA (CA = Conduite Automatique = automatic control)
  • Lausanne Be 8/8 TL

These trains run on pneumatic tires. For information on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber-tyred_metro

Important to know; with this system, the conventional steel rails are still in place. The trains also still have normal train wheels, which are used to guide the train through switches, for emergencies (in case of the flat pneumatic tire, the conventional train wheel is backup), and to support the train in the depot/workshop. Although running these trains on normal tracks is possible, if it happens it is only done at shunting speeds and not in passenger service.

Initial 3D model created by user Supertrain_fan. The model has been converted for the simulator and made functional by Sjoerd Ydema.

Operation in Metrosimulator

In the Rijndam network, the rubber tired metros can be used on the Airport Shuttle Service (use the separate end/middle cars to create a unit of up to 3 cars long). Starting with Rijndam 2022 v1.5, line M6 is also converted for rubber tired metro's.

The package contains a full MP68 trainset (6 cars long), and also separate end/middle cars so you can make your own prefered train length. Remember to end a train by adding the second end car reversed(!). The full trainset can not be uncoupled into seperate cars in the simulator. If you want to do this (for shunting purposes), place your train in the simulator using the separate end/middle cars.

Codes for activities

To use the MP68 in your own activities, you can use these codes:

  <train pack="AlstomMetro" file="MP68_6.xml"/> 6 car unit
  <train pack="AlstomMetro" file="MP68_A.xml"/> End car
  <train pack="AlstomMetro" file="MP68_B.xml"/> Middle car

Special animations

  • Shift+X: Open/close left traindriver door (or in automatic metro: open manual traindriver controls)
  • Ctrl+X: Open/close right traindriver door
  • Ctrl+Shift+X: Open/close traindriver door to passenger compartment
