ATB
ATB is the most used security system in the simulator and is used on the MG2, SG2, SG3 and RSG3 trains. The ATB is a system that always receive a signal in the cab what means there are no light signals. Except from the emplacements.
The ATB system uses the following cablights:
ATB Signal | ATB MG2/SG2 Before mid-life Revision |
ATB SG2 After mid-life Revision |
ATB RSG3/SG3 | Maximum speed | More info |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
0 absoluut | 0km/u | Train will be forced to a stop. This signal can be sent explicitly by the ATB system through, in which case the signal will be permanent until a better signal is received. However it is also possible that this signal appears implicitly when the continious track signal is no longer received while the previous signal was 10 absoluut. In that case resetting the train will result in the 0 permissief signal being received instead. | |||
10 absoluut | 10km/u | Maximum speed 10km/u, the buzzer will sound every 7 seconds. This signal is received when nearing the end of the track or nearing a switch that is not properly set and locked for this train. Passing a 'S' sign with this signal will result in a 0 absoluut signal that will force the train to a stop. | |||
Geel 10 / 0 permissief |
10km/h | Maximum speed 10km/u, the buzzer will sound every 7 seconds. Danger, appears when no signal is received, for example when driving in the wrong direction or when the current block is full. | |||
Geel 20 / 0 permissief |
20km/h | Maximum speed 20, the buzzer will sound every 7 seconds. Appears when nearing a block that is filled by another train or when nearing a junction that isn't set. | |||
Groen 35 | 35km/h | Maximum speed 35km/h, is used at small junctions. | |||
Groen 50 | 50km/h | Maximum speed 50km/h | |||
Groen 60 | 60km/h | Maximum speed 60km/h, only available on the SG3 and RSG3 otherwise it will shown as Groen 50. | |||
Groen 70 | 70km/h | Maximum speed 70km/h | |||
Groen 80 | 80km/h | Maximum speed 80km/h | |||
Groen 100 | 100km/h | Maximum speed 100km/h (Coming with the 2020 ATB upgrade) | |||
Vertrekverbod | 50km/h | Maximum speed 50km/h, the buzzer will sound every 7 seconds. It is not permitted to depart from the station. This signal is used when the train is ahead of schedule. |
Speed restrictions in ATB-Blocks
Every block contains its own speed restriction. Normaly at the RET subwaysystem in the Tunnel section Groen 70 is normaly used execpt on particulair blocks there is Groen 80 allowed. These groen 80 blocks are to be found between "Leuvehaven" and "Wilhelminaplein" at the D and E line and between "Voorschotenlaan" and "Kralingse Zoom" at the A, B,and C Line.
At the crossing at the President Rooseveldweg in the East of Rotterdam there is also an ATB Exception. Departing the station of "Graskruid" in the direction of Ommoord/Nesselande there is an ATB exception which give the Red STOP sign together with yellow 50. This is the only exception wich tells the driver to use the "Permissive" Button in orde to cross the Level-Crossing with caution. When the Level-Crossing is out of order the situation is to give way to the other traffic at the Road. Coming from Ommoord/Nesselande you will have the same ATB Cab-signaling when crossing this Level-Crossing.
In the Metrosim it is not simulated while there is no level-Crossing included in comparising with this crossing.
Follow-Up Block Signs.
Common block signals are:
From the mainline into a station diverting to an other track:
(Groen 80 >) Groen 70 > Groen 50 > Groen 35 > Geel 20 and/or Geel 10 (10 Absolute)
From the mainline diverting to the mainline track in opposite direction (Left-Hand Traffic):
Groen 70 > Groen 50 > Groen 35 > Point > Axle free > groen 70* (*depending the regulair speed limitation)
At the next point if diverting back to the original track you will receive common ATB cabsignalling as notified.
Departing a station and diverting to an other track:
Groen 35 untill all points are free of all train axles then Assigned block speed.
S Posts and ATB signals:
To cover a point yard S Posts are used. The S Posts are placed before a point and will secure the points behind the S Post. The S post meanst Stop before the S Post when 10 Absolute has been shown in the ATB Cabsignal.
In order to aproach an point two S Posts are placed prior to the point. The distance is a full lenght of a train between the S Posts.
Do NOT Pass the S posts with the ATB cabsign of 10 Absolute! You can only move foreward in the restricted speed limitaion of max. 8 km/h untill the S-Posts. Passing the S Posts will activate the ATB brake as an emergency brake and you will be stopped roughly at once.
In this situation you have overruled a major stop signal.
How to handle:
Prohibitation of Deaprture:
Yellow 50 and a blue arrow is lit at the ATB cabdisplay: You will receive this signal when arriving too early according to the timetable at a specific station.
The CVL is allowed to give a PoD if nessesary in extetion of the time shedule or other relates issues causing a delay or prior to maintainance works.
You are not allowed to depart te station. Open simultaiously all the doors at the platformside. (only unlock at cold and rainy weather) Wait untill the signal changed at the display.
Close doors and depart smootly.
Yellow signalling.
To pass a yellow block use the permissive butto in order to overrule the audio signal and to keep the ATB brake unattempted. Use the "Bracket" button to overrule. Overrule when an adiosonic alarm is ringing. Do not pass the red arrow at the speed gauge.
