The SG2 trains are currently the oldest subway trains which are in service. The trains were built between 1980 and 1984 and were originally coloured blue with orange doors. All of the SG2 trains got a technical overhaul between 1997 and 2001. During this overhaul the trains were repainted in their current grey with green and red outfit. These trains are in service on both the B and C lines and are equipped to drive with third rail power supply and overhead wire power supply. The SG2 stock can not run on A-Line between Stadionweg and Springstraat, because these trains are not fitted with the ZUB protection system.
