Rijndam |

Rijndam is a fictional city in Dutch style (made by Sjoerd Ydema), located along the river Rhine, with a metro network inspired by several different Dutch and non-Dutch metro networks.
There are three versions of the Rijndam network;

Line M1Line M1 runs above ground from Molenwijk to Simvlietlaan and from Brielselaan to Station Westplein. Between Simvlietlaan and Brielselaan, line M1 runs underground. Destination codes: Line M2Line M2 runs underground from Noorderpoort to Westpoort. After Westpoort, the line continues above ground to Station Westplein and Ketelplein. At Station Westplein, metro's switch to Sneltram mode for the last part to Ketelplein. Line M2 was the second line build in Rijndam. It connects the northern side of the city center to the trainstation at Westplein and the domestic area beyond the station. At Noorderpoort, a short walk connects you to Rijndam Noorderpoort train station, startingpoint of railwaylines to Noordvliet, Rijnwoude and the airport. The section between Station Westplein and Ketelplein was build as Sneltram system, as this made same level crossings with motorized traffic possible. However, this puts a limiting factor on the metro network's exploitation; the MG2 trains used on line M1 can not run on the sneltram section, as they do not have pantographs for overhead power supply.

Other locations
Depot MolenwijkDepot Molenwijk is the main depot on the network. It is situated near the terminus Molenwijk at line M1. It has 8 sidings for stabling metro trains, a 4-track maintenance facility, a track for testing trains, and a mainline railway connection for receiving or sending cargo. This depot is not complete yet; as Rijndam is planning on extending it's metro network (including a full city center loop), the depot is being modified to accommodate more rolling stock. Freightyard BergensewegFreightyard Bergenseweg is located near Bergenseweg metro station, connected to the metro network at Station Westplein. It is used by the national railways to supply cargo to the Rijndam area, and to allow for freight interchange between the railways and ships on the Rhine river. It has a connection to the metro network which is incidentally used for freight transport via the metro network (during night hours, using the maintenance diesel locomotives). RailwaylinesThe railwaylines from Rijndam Noorderpoort trainstation to Noordvliet, Rijnwoude, Panbos and the Rijndam Airport (which are part of the metro network in Rijndam 2016/2018) are present in the network.
These lines are equipped with Dutch railway signals and ATB-EG security.

Railwaylines signals and securityThe railway lines in the Rijndam network are equiped with Dutch railway signals and ATB-EG security.
The metro rolling stock will display (and enforce) the highest speed they can at or below the speed they receive from the ATB-EG; for example, if the ATB-EG sends out "130 km/h", the SG3 rolling stock will display "100", and the Bursa 5200's will display "80". |
