Along side with the MG2/1 the SG2/1 was the third type of passenger rolling stock on the metro system of Rotterdam. The SG2/1 is almost identical to the MG2/1 with only a few visual as well as technical differences. The trains were build between 2001 and 2002 to submit the SG2 stock on the Calandlijn Later became Metrolijn A, B and C which was extended at the time. The trains are equipped with pantographs for overhead wire as well as shoes for third rail. And Also on the Eramuslijn later became Metrolijn D if necessary. The Trains are Also not Fitted with ZUB Systems which They Cannot Opreate on Metrolijn E between Rotterdam Centraal and Den Haag Centraal which is protected with ZUB. The fleet consists of 18 sets.
History
The Rotterdam Metro Network is Going to Open the New Beneluxlijn from Marconiplein via Schiedam Centrum, Parkweg, Troelstralaan, Vijfsluizen, Pernis and Tussenwater before Hoogvliet.
Design
The Design is Based on Bombardier Flexity Swift and City Shift, They are length 30.5 Meters (30.65 Meters on sets 5343-5363 and SG2/1 sets) and They have Side Destination Blinds (DMI on Sets 5343-5363 and SG2/1 Sets) and have AC Motors (Compare with the DC Motors used on the MG2 Sets).
Entry into Service
The SG2/1 Sets enter Service in 2002 on the Calandlijn.
Midlife Revision
In 2014, Set 5401 enter Service in R-net With RET Livety.
The MG2/1 and SG2/1 Sets are receiving the Midlife Revision which earlier was the Similar RET Livery on the SG3 Sets but These were Dropped for the new RET and R-NET Livery on 5401, 5412 and 5414.
SG2/1 Sets Remain is Service before Midlife Revision are on Sets 5402-5411, 5413, 5415-5418.
