Lines

Epping - Ongar Railway

The Epping-Ongar railway runs from Epping Forrect via North Weald to Ongar. It used to be part of the Central line, but was closed to passenger traffic in 1994. The line has since been re-opened as a heritage railway, running under diesel and steam power. The connection at Epping to the Central line still exists, and so in the simulator, you may enter Epping Station. While the line was still part of the Central Line, trains to Ongar mostly ran as a shuttle service from Epping, using track 1 at Epping, while trains towards London used track 2 (the track next to the station building).
In reality, trains from North Weald towards Ongar end at "Epping Forrest". This is only a reversing point; there is no platform for passengers to get on/off the train. The EOR does hope they can, in the future, build a platform along the track a little closer to the Epping Underground station (where passengers can interchange to/from the Central Line).

Destination codes:
E - Epping
F - Epping Forrest (coming from Ongar / North Weald)
N - North Weald
O - Ongar
Z - Shunt from track GN or HN (at North Weald) to LN, accespoint for the Sidings.

Central Line

The Central line has been created from Epping to Woodford.
As it is practically directly next to the main route, a small section of the Hainault branchline including Roding Valley station has also been added. You'll find this line branching off roughly halfway in between Woodford and Buckhurst Hill.

Destination codes:
E - Epping
D - Debden
L - Loughton
W - Woodford
H - Roding Valley

Other locations

Loughton Sidings

At Loughton, there are 10 sidings available, each suitable for one train. These sidings can be reached from all three Loughton platforms.

Woodford Sidings

At Woodford, there are 6 sidings available, each suitable for one train. These sidings can be reached from reversingtrack W21.

Signalling system

Central Line

The Central Line is signalled with lightsignals and Coded Manual train protection. Coded manual is works almost the same as ATB on the Simvliet/Rijndam networks in the simulator (however it does use codes ATB does not have, so ATB-only trains are not compatible).

The lightsignals use red, green and white signals (and occasional yellow). When driving manually, the red and white signals may not be passed. Trains driving on ATO may pass white signals.

While not the case in reality, in the simulator, also the Tripcock system has been installed on the Central Line. So if you whish, you may use this as your train protection. However, Tripcock does not protect from overspeeding; it is only an emergency brake in SPAD (Signal Passed At Danger) situations.

Epping-Ongar Railway

The Epping-Ongar Railway has its own signalling system. Lightsignals can be green, yellow or red (double-yellow indicates the next signal will be yellow), and can have a route indicator. This route indicator can have different forms; at Ongar a destination track number is shown when entering the station. And at North Weald (coming from Epping), a letter can be shown; "L" (for "Loop track") for track 1, and "B" (for "Bay track") for track 3. If the signal is red, but also shown two small white lights in a diagonal line relative to each other, then you may pass as a shunting movement. It means a path has been set, but the destination track is already occupied.

ATB tracksignals are also present at the Epping-Ongar Railway, to make it possible for the other trains in the simulator to run here. However, as the maximum speed for the EOR is 25mph / 40km/h, this is the maximum speed that is enforced on the line (also when driving under Coded Manual).
