How are people able to crash thier trains in this manner, on metro sim ? The game doesnt have any crashing/derailing abilities....
Re: Screenshots & Videos
Try passing a switch in a merging direction, with the switch set wrong for your train. Don't pass it completely. Then reverse driving direction. The part of the train that had already passed the switch will now want to follow the other track.
Pretty much what happened here; this Amsterdam 15G tram wanted to reverse a bit, when the first wheelset had already passed the switch leading to the other track.... https://wijkkrantzuid.nl/wp-content/upl ... 0/11/2.jpg (you can see the switch in the grass in front of the tram). So that wheelset went to the other track, as the switch in this case is on a spring to always lead to the other track (it's intention is for reversing trams here, without the need to manually set the switch each time).

After that incident, they placed a sign after the switch, saying "NOOIT achteruit rijden" ( "NEVER drive backwards" ) -> https://goo.gl/maps/6S7f1DWtBsycEzQc6

*Sigh* I think you need a reconditioning lessons for train driving. It seems, that your driving skills got pretty rusty. Try ask Michiel, he can proabably find someone, who will be your teacher. I can't do that. I'm pretty bad at teaching.
Oh dear god! The driver was lucky, that it didn't happen on a section of the tram, where the tram has it's panto mounted. That way, he just could drive forward and tram will go back to correct track.Sjoerd wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 23:23 Pretty much what happened here; this Amsterdam 15G tram wanted to reverse a bit, when the first wheelset had already passed the switch leading to the other track.... https://wijkkrantzuid.nl/wp-content/upl ... 0/11/2.jpg (you can see the switch in the grass in front of the tram). I think, this also happened in Prague. I can't remember when and where exactly this happened in Prague, but it was Skoda 15T, which rear bogie suddenly turned left on intersection, When the rest of the tram continued straight. Although, this wasn't caused by driver mistakenly reversing halfway on springlocked switch, but it was caused by worn out switch rail[1] locking mechanism, which become loose as the time pass. When the tram passed through it, switch rail locking mechanism broke apart, which released switch rails and caused them to shift themselves into wrong position, and rear bogie of the tram then went in wrong way.
AFAIR after this incident, Prague transport company decided to check the condition of all older switches on entire tram network, and Bingo! Some switches had their locking mechanism worn out badly and many parts of the tram network were taken out of service, so the switches could be repaired.
Fotnotes:
[1] Switch rail (or in British english: Point blade) is a part of railway switch, which moves, when you flip a switch and determines, where your train goes, after it passes the switch. These switch rails are usually held in place by locking mechanism, which can be moved, thus moving switch blades. In some cases (like that incident in Amsterdam), the locking mechanism can be equipped with springlocks, which allows switch rails to freely shift into another position, if the train is passing them in merging direction and after train passes through, the springlocks returns switch rails into original position.
In Amsterdam incident, the driver stopped tram halfway on springlocked switch when there were no bogies staying on the switch. The switch rails got shifted back to original position by springlocks. When the driver started driving back, the bogies, which passed the switch wento into original way of the switch, and caused the tram to be like on that picture.
In Prague incident, the mechanism broke apart and released the switch rails. When the tram passed through, the wheels of the tram caused to switch rails to flip erratically as they passed, and the rear bogie went on switch rail when they were stuck in "turn left" position.
Fact: Do you know, that you can use switch as a derailer? It's simple, just shift switch rails halfway, so they stay in the center of the switch. The train, which tries to pass through the "booby trapped" switch will immediately derail. This could be used, if you have a runaway train, and you want to stop it, to prevent disaster.
If you want to make a very fast ride, just disable ATB/ZUB, put trottle to 1.00 and enjoy.
