Maybe that can be fount out when Beta 4 does come.
Re: Monorail
Let's keep it realistic... This is public transport, not an amusement park ride

Re: Monorail
Don't wanna be that guy, but isn't this whole thing based on a line to an amusement park that went through an artificial canyon
Re: Monorail
Yes, but it was still a public transport line, also usable for people not going to the Monkey park.
And that canyon was probably needed to build the route, to avoid a longer route by having to go around that small mountain (or building a tunnel).
The Shinshin line project... I am looking at Google Maps, to the Osaka and Tokyo monorails for inspiration.

Re: Monorail
I've just recently noticed, both monorail maps are finally released. Really well done. At least we have 3rd way of transportation, completely different from railway, metro and tram system, available in Metrosim (1st one is Ferrocarril funicular and 2nd one is San Francisco-like cablecar).
I also noticed some details, which is good, they weren't forgotten about.
1st: When monorail train (on both monorail lines) closes doors, you can hear soft "ding-ding" sound after doors close. I believe, this is an audible notice for the driver, the doors are shut and train can start moving. It's the same like in case of Paris metro trains, where you can hear a dull "donnnng" sound after they close doors.
2nd: Monorail trains have a high rolling resistance (they slow down a bit quickly, when they're coasting). I believe, this is due to design of their bogies. This actually isn't the first case, when the train had higher rolling resistance. Some of you may have noticed, Paris rubber-tyred metro trains also has higher rolling resistance than their steel rail counterparts (obviously due to those rubber tyres).
Also If you're driving on Inuyama Monorail, pay close attention when you're stopping at the station, since you need to allign the train doors with the gaps in the platform fence. If you have been driving on Lausanne line before, this should be easy for you. If you didn't, then I'd reccommend to drive on Inuyama Monrail in explore mode and practice stopping in stations on it.

If you want to make a very fast ride, just disable ATB/ZUB, put trottle to 1.00 and enjoy.

Re: Monorail
Glad you like it.
The next version of the Monorail add-on will not only feature an extension of the Shinshin line network, but also another train.

Re: Monorail
Update:
- An extention with 6 additional stations has been build for the Shinshin line, and scenery building is progressing along this line.
- For the Fubuki line branch, at this time only the track connection has been made (just after the second new stop looking from Shinayama Fubuki Station).
- The Tama Toshi monorail trains have been created for the simulator (but not finished yet). This will probably become the standard train for Fubuki line services when I'm ready to create a timetable for it, and put that into activities.
- The in-cab monitor (present in both the Tama Toshi train and the Osaka train cabviews) has a new function; when the train has stopped, it will show you the status of the doors; open left/right/both. When the doors are closed, the screen returns to the "current station / destination" screen again.
But you can also decide to stay with the stations-screen if you want to; the doors-screen is shown when your traction handle is at setting -2 (second brake setting), and the speed of the train is zero. So to return to the stations-screen while you are at a station; simply reduce the traction handle to brake setting -1. If you're driving while the doors are open... The door status will be shown on the screen until you closed them; driving with open doors is a dangerous situation, and if it happens it should be taken care of immediately!
- Note; the Tama Toshi monorail train has its own cabview. While there are common elements in it, it is a separate cabview. First thing to notice; the driver is sitting on the left side instead of the right side, and some of the controls are different.

Re: Monorail
My parents were recently watching a cooking TV show, with a small segment that shows "impressive" (for normal folks, not nerds like us) videos. One of them was of the Chongqin monorail and how monorail switches work, and the show hosts described monorail trains as "the train that makes its way as it goes". Words cannot describe the cringe I felt on the inside, some people are so easy to impress
they probably think monorail switches IRL work like switches in the sim, you can control them from a console instead of a dispatcher doing the work.
