(Rare double post) It is unfortunate that neither one of these models lasted long enough to operate through the Regional Connector to serve the A Line as the now longest light rail line in the world. RC opened in 2023. The fleet was retired in 2021 before clearance testing in the new tunnels started.
Last irl photos. We'll be focusing on the models after this.

So.... Los Angeles's answer to the SG2? Makes sense.

Well no, not really. It's more of Los Angeles's take on the Siemens-Düwag U2, since LACTC was originally going to order the U2 in the early '80s. But both the SG2 and U2 are Düwag products (which Düwag is a now fully absorbed into Siemens).

Would love to have the U2 in the sim!
And AFAIK the SG2 is developed from the U2.

Slight deviation from this topic, I'd recommend LED Signal Guy for American signal applications. This would be so we wouldn't have to model an entire signal mast from scratch. Most of America uses the McCain, Dialight, and 3M brands.

If we get fully functional traffic signal cycles for tram usage, these modular models would work great for a potential American based map. In the collections there's signals from other countries too.
It's recommend that signal heads are separated from the masts as objects for easy modification and flexibility. So if a mast is awkwardly placed, say at an intersection that is located at an alignment curve, the lights can be rotated to still face the intended flow of traffic while the mast is installed at an angle that would make sense; similar to the traffic signals on the Toronto map.

This is great, you know what would make this better? An official engineering plan for the Original Metro Blue Line Route from Long Beach to 7th Street/Metro Center. I have that too, btw.Sgt_DeBones wrote: ↑17 May 2025, 21:41 Slight deviation from this topic, I'd recommend LED Signal Guy for American signal applications. Epic! Is it the CTC map that would be translated into the CVL? Every block and milepost included?TheCh3mist92 wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 18:47 An official engineering plan for the Original Metro Blue Line Route from Long Beach to 7th Street/Metro Center. I have that too, btw.

I believe so, there are also GIS files available. We could start thereSgt_DeBones wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 19:54Epic! Is it the CTC map that would be translated into the CVL? Cool, but first let's get the P865/P2020 ready for a file transfer to any dev willing to import the models. (Usually, it's Sjoerd but any devkit user can take this task)
