The problem with SPT is the like of interlocks to bypass work zones. Unless I'm missing out on some info, if maintenance is is needed on one track, that whole line is shut down depending on where the trains are located.

Maintenance is done every night, between last and first trains. It looks like it's done by just one crew at a time, doing just a small section of the line each time. So by the time they have covered the entire circle on both tunnels, they can just start again.

If maintenance during the day is needed; it's two separate tunnels, so the other circle can remain in operation. It would just mean that some journeys require you to take the long way around. :D

Each journey only takes 24 minutes :D

Which is a lot more then the 1,5 - 2 minutes it would take you if you just want to go one station in the other direction :D

Still, if you like traveling on trains.... You could say (taking the long way around) "that's good value for money!"

Let's put some working lights on that crane, so you can see what you're doing when you're loading/offloading materials, replacing track bolts, or whatever maintenance you're carrying out :D

That's exactly the problem I was expressing. Glasgow isn't flexible. I sense the pain the SPT riders have that needs to use the system on a basis.
