Laptops
Would metrosim beta (3.18.1) work on a laptop/macbook?
Soon to be getting either and would like to know.

Re: Laptops
It only works with Windows 64-bit systems and the graphics card must be an Nvidia one, cause this does not support AMD graphics cards.

Re: Laptops

Nvidia GPU only?! That's BOGUS!RotterdamMetroLover wrote: ↑16 Jul 2024, 18:01 It only works with Windows 64-bit systems and the graphics card must be an Nvidia one, cause this does not support AMD graphics cards.

I have a AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series GPU in my PC and Metrosim runs on it nicely without issues. AFAIK, Metrosim can have issues with older AMD GPUs which uses pre-CGN technology, or newer AMD GPUs, which aren't equipped with chipsets using CGN technology.
@SkraightUp100: If you have a laptop with AMD GPU, just make sure you have a one using CGN technology. If you aren't sure, look up your GPU's model.
Here are specs required to play Metrosim:
Note: These specs are made based on my previous experiences with Metrosim on various PCs I have/had. They may be a bit inaccurate.
- OS: 64-bit Windows only (Linux, MacOS and 32-bit Windows won't work)
- CPU: Dual core 2.4 GHz (acceptable minimum), or Quad core 3.0 GHz or better (recommended)
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce family GPUs, or AMD GPUs using CGN technology. (iGPUs aren't recommended)[1]
- RAM: 8 GB (acceptable minimum), or 16 GB (recommended)[2]
- HDD/SSD: around 4-5 GB or free space [3]
- Additional software: DirectX, OpenAL [4]
[1]: I actually have little to no experience with Nvidia GPUs, so if you need help with Metrosim and you are using Nvidia GPU, then I can't help you with that. Also iGPUs (integrated GPUs) aren't recommended, because they aren't usualy as powerful as dedicated GPUs.
[2]: Pay very close attention to the RAM capacity, since Metrosim is really RAM hungry! Especially, if you play on a big map, or if you spawn a lot of vehicles.
[3]: The Metrosim itself has roughly around 1.7 GB, but the extra free space is highly recommended. Especially if you want to install add-ons in the future.
[4]: This additional software usualy gets intalled into your PC along with Metrosim. In case if it doesn't (these occurences are rare BTW), you have to install it by yourself.

If you want to make a very fast ride, just disable ATB/ZUB, put trottle to 1.00 and enjoy.

At least Metro Simulator Beta is better than Train Sim World.

In many ways I actually have to agree with that

Re: Laptops
I hope Beta 4 does improve on performance. That's the only hiccup and I use a high-end Nitro 5.

Hope so! Maybe this may be a new starting point!
