Whew. I'm glad to hear, you're doing great Sjoerd. IDK if you noticed it, but some users incl. myself started to theorize about your diagnosis in this topic. Leipzig_LP even thought, you had pneumothorax, which I dismissed saying, that the pneumothorax only occurs as a consequence of chest injury, which punctures pleural cavity and allows air to leak into it.
My theory is, you probably had strong pneumonia or strong bronchitis. I know what I am talking about. I had pneumonia before and I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I really went through hell, when I had that pneumonia. And I had bronchitis many times before as well.

So, it was pulmonary embolism. I can say you were lucky, that you or someone else noticed, something is wrong and you've got into the hospital on time. Pulmonary embolism can be fatal, especially when medical intervention occurs too late. There were cases of people, who died because of pulmonary embolism, but in most these cases, the help arrived too late, and the damage was done.
