You can always set an alternative in the simulator; Main menu -> Options (top left on the screen) -> search for "CONTROL_TRAIN_CONFIRM", change the key there, and end by clicking on "Save" (top of the screen).

If that's the actual problem I guess I should change the key in the wiki to "the key left of 1/above Tab" as it seems every country's keyboards have a different symbol there

Problem is that it's not the ~ key in the first place but the ` key. There is no ~ key, that is the symbol you get when you hold shift and press the ` key on a US international keyboard.

I know, I just think it looks more distinctive than ` because there's also ' which is another key. Same way that I associate the decelerate/accelerate buttons as "<"/">" because you can more easily "connect" them with their function in the sim due to their shape, instead of ","/"."

Yeah, but that is the problem, the controls are mapped to the primary key (if you open the control settings you'll also see , and . for the throttle). Different keyboard layouts might have different secondary characters bound to that key, so guides should refer to the primary key.

Of course you’re right on that. In any case I changed that key’s description in the wiki to be location-based because different keyboard layouts put something else there On another note it’s interesting what Google’s AI/ML algorithm shows if you type “key under escape” (but of course ML isn’t always correct)

Well, I tried the key left the 1 and above the tab, the ` and ~ keys, but nothing... However, I managed to turn off the engine and then turn on again, everytime I hear the beep.

@Kim2016 that happened on a Intercity Direct with TRAXX. I just arrived at Rijndam Zuid and quited the service.
