You clearly don't understand how the internet culture works.
It's how the position of 5351 ended up. The crash is indeed tragic but the amount of luck you'd have to be saved by a statue makes it memable. The whole concept of being save by a statue in general is more of a cartoonish outcome but look, it's rarely and absurdly possible, deeming it a memable.

What's going on here? What has MG2/1 with ID 5351 done, so it became a meme? Is that some kind of tragic event IRL, I missed?

In The Netherlands, a metro with ID 5351 was launched off a track, over a buffer, and landed on a piece of art (whale tail), and it just kinda rested there. Driver got away without any problems (if that wasn't the case this thread wouldn't exist) but the metro landed on the statue in such a absurd way that it has basically become a meme at this point. The most impressive part is that that statue was not planned there in the first place, but the people that live near the line wanted it there. So it basically saved a life

TLDR: Metro launched off tracks and landed in a funny way.
