Ketelplein lies at the outer edge of the former borders of the city of Rijndam, and has been the terminus of the metro for a long time. As the city expanded, it lost is terminus status when the metro network was extended via the business district to Monument, in the centre of the former town "Buitenvelden".
The square around Ketelplein station is used for weekly markets.
Line T2 has a stop at Ketelplein, terminating on the third platform.
