HTM GTL8 tram

Post by Sjoerd »

I have been quiet a few weeks since my last project... Here is the newest one; After the The Hague Avenio and Regiocitadis trams, here comes the GTL8 tram. :D
The GTL8 (Gelede Tram Lang / Articulated Tram Long, with 8 powered axles) was first introduced in 1981 (147 units were build between 1981 and 1993, in two series; 3001-3100 and 3101-3147), and the last ones are still in service on a few lines in The Hague, due to be replaced in 2026 (new TINA trams have been ordered).
The Amsterdam 11G and 12G trams were based on this design.

I am currently working on the first step; producing the parts in Sketchup, now working on creating the interior.

Um? This looks good but i don't understand, what's different from this and the 11G & 12G? It looks like a import of the 12G when i see it

Main differences: The GVB 11G/12G have a different front (as Amsterdam required a larger destination display), a low floor middle section, no rear door in the end section, and never had a second pantograph.
And ofcourse; the HTM GTL8 never had a bidirectional variant.

Hmm, the way the sign in the front reminds me of the Boston Green Line's sign where the Letter is on the side while the destination sign is shown next to it.

Also, can you ask to Michiel fix the blank signs bug in simvliet?

I also would like to say that Rijndam Railways has a bug where the FGV trains did not leave the terminals

The Tinas are the last trash was in Darmstadt, I looked at them and went along for the ride and it was horrible. The worst is in my neighboring city Halle Saale (32min from the main station with S5X) That's where they should go, but the legendary mgt6d should be replaced. In Gera it's the KT4D and the KTNF8 will remain.

I hope you enjoy making this project a success 👏🏼
Metro Sim Beta is a really great game.

I don't know about that yet. The 'old' front (still hiding under the new one, as seen here: https://haagsetrams.com/gtl/midlife-rev ... erie-3100/) definately looked a lot better. And I do not really plan to make every single variation of this tram (but at least the red-beige livery, the white-blue livery, and probably a repaintable one).

When the GTL 2nd generation were delivered they had the white-blue livery with yellow doors. Back in I believe 2002 they repainted them to look like the 1st generation. Click the link for the image.
