A nice suggestion, but probably not a realistic solution to the immediate problem; extending a metro line takes a lot of time. The problem could be resolved easier, cheaper, and sooner by increasing the frequency on the existing line M3
If that is the case, I will tell my constituence that I was unsuccessful.

I can speak on behalf of my constituency, to say that we need more trains during the peak time, it is just horrible. 2 car trains are not enough we say.

Extra rolling stock has been ordered. Hopefully, they will arrive in time for Rijndam 2020. Then rolling stock can be re-arranged to provide longer consists.

There are 8 trainsets servicing this line (as rolling stock alternates between M2 and M3, so both lines automatically get longer trains). So far three extra SG3 units have been made available to extend three trainsets from 2 units to three units. We will look into the possibility to extend more trainsets, as more units become available.
Hopefully, this will increase customer satisfaction.
This is the first extended trainset;

Extending a metro line takes a lot of time.
It would take like 3 - 6 years depending on the length of an extension.

Or 19 years in case you let engineers from Amsterdam do the job
