Rome subway rolling stock

Post by lazyricky »

Hi guys, I played MSB since the Beta 3.9 release and I have to say that it has improved so much and now it has so much rolling stock variety that in my opinion being a free simulator, it has a very good potential and it's a nice little sim.
I also followed the latest updates regarding the Paris, Santiago, Lausanne, London etc..I thought it could would be nice to have a couple trains from the Rome (Italy) subway, mostly because there's a lack of subway trains supplied by pantographs, so it could be nice to see a Breda MB-100 for instance. you also could modify it with a third rails shoe to be able to switch modes and work well in Simvliet Line A B and in Rijndam M1, M2 and M3. think about it. I think it could be something very nice!

In my opinion it could be a very nice idea, to have some rolling stock from a new country and with some new designs. Could you please supply us with some photos? I'll try and search for a few of them myself, looks interesting!

Unfortunately almost every picture you can find on the Internet shows trains heavily damaged by graffiti, but now they are cleaning them and they are doing a quite good job. If one day I'll be able to go and shoot some pictures of the clean trains I'll post them on this page!

these are the few images I could find where you can see clean trains.
So, as I'm really looking forward to this project I'll also put here the main technical specifications for the MB-100 EMU rolling stock.
These trains have been built between 1987 and 1988 by Ercole Marelli Trazione and Breda Costruzioni ferroviarie. They run under the 1500V DC overhead catenary electrification system and have a maximum speed of 90 km/h with an acceleration and braking rate roughly at 1,2 m/s^ or little over. Three variants of the railcars have been built: motorcar with driving cab (Mp), simple motorcar (M) and motorcar with a little hidden shunting bench. (Sp) the 100 series cars are put in the front and in the back of the train, and they are formed in this way, Mp+M, and the 300 series are the middle cars formed by M+Sp, so a complete 6 car train scheme will be the following: Mp+M+Sp+M+M+Mp. As you added in the Simulator some non-french variants of the Paris rubbered metro I was thinking that you could also do a little pack with of the MB-100 used in the Rome metro network (the blue and grey ones in the pictures) and the Lima (Perù) version (red and grey in the pictures) The units are fitted with DC traction motors and managed by the full chopper electronic system. They originally had Scharfenberg automatic coupling system but they don't have anymore, they have the BSI type coupler that allows for mechanical coupling but doesn't provide electrical and pneumatic connection between the trainsets.
