Why do you have "Niet Instappen" at Araplein, if that is line A terminus?
Or the second picture was taken at Varenweg or Springstraat?

It's probably for a terminating train, which then goes empty to the sidings near Springstraat.

It's a 10 minute service, so these single units still offer more capacity than the average NS sprinter does in the evening.
