Beta 3.10

After a long wait Beta 3.10 is finally almost finished :D This time no extension of Simvliet, but a re-release of Simvliet 2020 with actual dark tunnels and a day/night cycle. In addition to Simvliet 2020, you can drive around Rijndam, a new route made by Sjoerd. No release date is set yet, but if tests go well I hope it's ready by the end of December.

From the existing routes only Simvliet 2020 had been adjusted for the day/night cycle, older versions are available but because streetlights cannot be copy/pasted back to these versions they will not have the day/night cycle. Current plan is to have a new variation of Simvliet in Beta 3.11, featuring the year 1985, which will have all the day/night cycle included as well as Simvliet Harbour.

Cool pics! Keep it up! (Mathematically, 3.10 is the same as 3.1)

But the one before where also named 3.8, 3.9... instead of 3.09. The next version also was considered to be named 4 at some point. So I think it's supposed to be "three point ten" ;)

Not in the Netherlands; you would have to write it as 3,10 and 3,1 to make a mathematical match. Points are used as seperators for thousands. I know; in the US they like to do it the other way around :D (And the US is also still struggling with inches, feet, yards and miles, but that's another topic :D )

For metrosimulator, you could translate it as "version 3 update 10" :)

There is quite a logic behind that:
major.minor.beta.build (where the last two are left away in Metro Simulator version numbers)

You see that Michiel isn't releasing a beta, but actually a minor release. Betas are normally for testing within a small group of betatesters while buildnumbers change for every time the code was being recompiled.
Every number can be anything and it is in no way the same as a decimal number. (i.e. KDE 5.0 was the successor of KDE 4.3) When I give a version the number 42.69, it means it's the 70th release (you begin at 42.0) since there was a major addition in my program, which was the 42th major update for the program. (version numbers starting with 0 like 0.1 etc. are meant for new programs with a small bit released, version 1.0 is usually the first complete release.
