Yeah, I see.
It, just, seems silly to me, to have 3 different lines (like in Rotterdam or Amsterdam) that they share 90% of the route.

Here in Athens, for example, we currently have 3 metro lines. However, the company that builds it, has planned lines 5 to 8, also (line 4 is going to start construction in about a year). So, the planned Line 6 will have 2 branches and they decided to call the one “Line 6” and the other “Line 6A”

So, it depends on the country.

I thought it depended on the proper authorities? I guess not.
This is now a dead account.

Of course, the respective company decides the naming scheme, but in every country a different way is more common: In France, the branches have the same name, in the Netherlands, they have different names. In Greece, we have 6 and 6A, for example.

It can. Every few years (for busses more often then for rail transport) there are new tenderings for the next concession period for the public transport in a certain area (inter-local transport for (part of) a province, or just a single city's busnetwork, or a railway network). The authority that gives out the concession will formulate a set of demands to the public transport network the winner of the concession must provide.
This can be something like "we want a connection between Schiedam Centrum and Binnenhof, running at least 6 times an hour", leaving room to give that connection any number you like, running it more often then the required 6x/hour, and/or extending it further on the network. But it can also be "Run the existing line A 6x/hour", leaving no room to change anything.
It is really up to the authority for that concession area.

Now that Beta 3.12 is out and it is not a secret anymore, I have added some information about the tramlines and rolling stock to the wiki, and updated the network maps.

If Rijndam 2020 is a bit slow on your computer, try using lower graphic settings. Due to the addition of the tram network, a lot of extra scenery and tracks have been added. On my computer, it now uses between 1,3 and 2,0 GB of active memory when running (the lower end in explore mode, the higher end in activities, where a lot of other rolling stock is also loaded and simulated).
To help deal with this issue, a subfolder has been provided (you can find it in the activities folder of Rijndam 2020) with 'light' activities; only other rolling stock is used as AI traffic in the direct environment of the player's train. And in the tram-activities, no metro lines are running (and vice versa).

Hey Sjoerd, is there any activity where tram service and metro service run together?
I was really surprised and didn`t expected a tram in your network. I really like it. :)

Not in this version; due to the large computer requirements (my computer is about 5 years old and has no problem with it, after I did some cleaning up of unnecessary objects, so I guess it will be fine for most people), I only made tram activities with no Metro traffic.
You can always make a mixed activity yourself; the networks are separate, so in theory, you can merge existing activities into a new one with minimal effort.

Thanks!

I am working on a small tram extension, but keeping in mind the RAM memory requirements, there won't be a long new line in new scenery (which would also need to be loaded in active memory); it will be an extension to Ketelplein, as most of the scenery is already there. More on that later. ;)

Koeleboe just brought a problem to my attention with the tram activities in Rijndam 2020; the tram timetables do not work.
I have investigated the problem, and found the solution. Here is how you can fix it:

Find the following in the tram-activities (T1 and T2 *.act files), and remove it:

Code: Select all

<timetables title="Timetable Tramline T1">
   <timetable title="T1 Central Station" sort="SBV">
    <route>TRM-YC</route>
    <route>TRM-YK</route>
    <route>TRM-YB</route>
    <route>TRM-YD</route>
    <station code="SBV"/>
    <station code="DAW"/>
    <station code="RDB"/>
    <station code="BSL"/>
    <station code="DBL"/>
    <station code="ESS"/>
    <station code="BLK"/>
    <station code="BLKK"/>
    <station code="OBS"/>
    <station code="STS"/>
    <station code="GRM"/>
    <station code="VDL"/>
    <station code="GNH"/>
    <station code="RBP"/>
    <station code="SVP"/>
    <station code="RCS"/>
   </timetable>
   <timetable title="T1 Station Buitenvelden" sort="SBV">
    <route>TRM-BY</route>
    <route>TRM-CY</route>
    <route>TRM-DY</route>
    <route>TRM-KY</route>
    <route>TRM-YZ</route>
    <station code="RCS"/>
    <station code="SVP"/>
    <station code="RBP"/>
    <station code="GNH"/>
    <station code="VDL"/>
    <station code="GRM"/>
    <station code="STS"/>
    <station code="OBS"/>
    <station code="BLKK"/>
    <station code="BLK"/>
    <station code="ESS"/>
    <station code="DBL"/>
    <station code="BSL"/>
    <station code="RDB"/>
    <station code="DAW"/>
    <station code="SBV"/>
    <station code="DBVK"/>
   </timetable>
  </timetables>

  <timetables title="Timetable Tramline T2">
   <timetable title="T2 Statenpolder" sort="SBV">
    <route>TRM-YB</route>
    <route>TRM-YS</route>
    <station code="SBV"/>
    <station code="DAW"/>
    <station code="RDB"/>
    <station code="BSL"/>
    <station code="DBL"/>
    <station code="ESS"/>
    <station code="BLK"/>
    <station code="BLKK"/>
    <station code="MDW"/>
    <station code="HDL"/>
    <station code="STP"/>
    <station code="STPK"/>
   </timetable>
   <timetable title="T2 Station Buitenvelden" sort="SBV">
    <route>TRM-BY</route>
    <route>TRM-SY</route>
    <station code="STPK"/>
    <station code="STP"/>
    <station code=HDL"/>
    <station code="MDW"/>
    <station code="BLKK"/>
    <station code="BLK"/>
    <station code="ESS"/>
    <station code="DBL"/>
    <station code="BSL"/>
    <station code="RDB"/>
    <station code="DAW"/>
    <station code="SBV"/>
   </timetable>
  </timetables>
Copy the following code, and paste it into the ACT files where you have just removed the code above.

Code: Select all

<timetables title="Timetable Tramline T1">
   <timetable title="T1 Central Station" sort="SBV">
    <route>TRM-YC</route>

    <station code="bsl"/>
    <station code="rdb"/>
    <station code="daw"/>
