MetroSim closes upon loading

I just got a new laptop so I can play metro sim with a decent frame rate. But whenever I attempt to launch the game, it crashes after about 10 seconds of the gray loading screen. Can anybody help?

Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 17763)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

There's also a Intel UHD 630 graphics card, but I made sure MetroSim uses the NVIDIA one, via this method:

[...] If you’re on Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings. There, select "Desktop App", click Browse, find the Simulator.exe file and click Add. Then, click its tile in the list below, click Options, choose the option with the Radeon graphics and click Save.
After that, MSB will run with the Radeon card.

Did your computer initially come with S Mode turned on? For whatever reason Microsoft decided computers with S Mode cannot run 64-bit programs

DirectX installed?
When I got a new computer, and did not install DirectX first, I also got 'crash to desktop' pretty quickly.

Thanks, it worked! I swear it installed DirectX when I installed MetroSim though...

I would also suggest going to your graphical settings screen (Windows settings). There you can select a specific program (which Windows now seems to call "app"), so.... Metrosimulator.exe, and set that to "high performance".
On my computer, that noticably increased framerate.
