So these units have fully functional couplers it seems, but are those ever used? From what I understand only on the Lea Valley lines (where other stock types are used) the overground runs with 2x4 car trains, other lines all seem to be single 4- of 5-car trains.

That is correct but on the Lea Valley Lines they use 314's more often

I have not found any photo's of two trains coupled together. But as the couplers do have the electrical components (not just the mechanical parts), they appear to be fully capable of coupled service.

The cab is almost done; I have added the middle wall (on the right on this screenshot) which swings open when the emergency exit is used, and I labeled the controls (most of them; it is hard to read small writhing on just-a-bit-too-low-resolution photo's I found online.... :D ).
Still busy making them functional as much as possible.

Just for fun..... ;)
A screenshot from Milkshape 3D, during the build of the emergency exit system; here are the stairs, folded up versus folded out;

I have never seen a double set of 378s, most Overground Stations couldn't fit them

378s can physically run in double but the front gangway is emergency use only

Yes; the folded up stairs would be in the way for train-to-train transfer.... :roll:
