For some reason, in the game, there's a beeping noise that literally happens out of the blue, and soon after, the entire train comes to a halt and can't move.
This is especially annoying in Simvliet 2020, because that's mainly when it happens, and it makes "Replace broken metro Line C" literally unplayable as it does this strange action like, 8 seconds after you start the train

Can someone tell me what the hell is going on and how to resolve this?

You probably do not have a clear signal to proceed. The train protection warns you about this, and when you do not react within 7 seconds, it blocks the train (until there is a clear signal). You can mute the signal with the ~ key (for a further 7 seconds).
